A homeschool ID card is a card your school issues, not a government ID. Stores that give teacher or student discounts set their own rules, so check with the store before you go.

Homeschool ID card questions

What size is the ID card?
The standard ID card size, called CR80: 3.375 x 2.125 inches, the same as a credit card. It fits standard badge holders and wallets. The Vertical Badge is the same card stood upright.
How do I print it at home?
Choose Fold-over sheets and print on heavy card stock (110 lb or 200 gsm or heavier) or Teslin, at Actual size, not "Fit to page". Cut on the dashed line, fold on the dotted line so the back sits behind the front, then laminate it or slide it into a badge holder.
Can I print it double-sided?
Yes. Choose Double-sided sheets. The fronts print on one page and the backs on the next, each back placed to line up behind its front. Set your printer to flip on the edge named on the sheet, then cut at the corner marks.
I have a plastic card printer. Which file do I use?
Choose Card printer (CR80 pages) and Regular. Each page is exactly one card side, front then back, edge to edge with no marks, ready for desktop card printers such as Zebra, Evolis or Fargo.
Can a print shop make plastic cards from it?
Yes. Choose Card printer or Images with Bleed and crop marks. The color runs 0.125 inch past the cut line and the files are 300 dpi. The shop converts the colors for its own printer.
Can I get an image of the front and back?
Yes. Choose Images: each card gives a front and a back image at 300 dpi, 1013 x 638 pixels for a landscape card. Several cards download together as one zip file.
Will it fit a lanyard?
Yes. Most people slip the card into a clear badge holder with a slot. To punch the card itself, pick the Vertical Badge template and tick Leave room for a slot punch, so nothing prints in the strip at the top.
Why does my photo look blurry?
A small photo looks soft when it prints at card size. The maker warns you when a photo is too small for the card you picked and says how many pixels wide it should be. Use a larger photo, or zoom out when you crop.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Your photos stay on your device and are never sent to Spectrum Unlocked. The first download asks for your email once; only the email is sent.
Is a homeschool ID card official?
No. It is a card your home school issues, like a private school's student or staff card. It is not a government ID and does not prove anyone's identity to a government office.
Where can I use a homeschool ID card for discounts?
Some stores, museums and attractions give teacher or student discounts, but each one sets its own rules. Check with the store before you go.
What goes on a teacher card and on a student card?
A teacher card carries the teaching parent's name, title, school year and ID number. A student card carries the child's name, grade and school year, and leaves off your address and phone number on purpose.
Can I make a card for each child?
Yes. Add a Student for each child, up to 8, and their cards print on the same sheet as the teacher card.
