Tutoring Terms of Service
Last updated October 30, 2026
These terms apply to the tutoring service provided by Spectrum Unlocked. By opening a tutoring account or booking a session you agree to them.
Summary
- You can change or cancel a session free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. A session canceled in time can be rebooked once within 60 days.
- A session canceled later than that, or missed, counts as used. The first missed session is forgiven.
- We do not issue refunds at your request. A canceled session is rebooked instead. We refund if we are unable to deliver a session.
- Tutoring is educational support. It is not an assessment, a diagnosis or therapy.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of the child you book for. You agree to these terms on your own behalf and on behalf of the child. Our tutors work for Spectrum Unlocked. Your agreement is with Spectrum Unlocked, not with an individual tutor.
2. The Service
We provide one-to-one online tutoring for children aged 3 to 12 through an online session room, together with a learning plan, session notes, Home Practice and progress summaries. Tutoring is educational support. It is not an assessment, a diagnosis, therapy or medical care. See the Disclaimer for details.
3. Session Room and Equipment
Each session takes place in an online room that we open for the booking. You need a device with a camera, a microphone and an internet connection. We do not supply equipment and cannot guarantee that the room works on every device. A child under 8 needs an adult nearby during the session. The room opens 10 minutes before the start time and closes when the session ends.
4. Booking and Payment
You can book a single session, a bundle of sessions or a weekly plan at the price shown for your child's grade. Payment is taken by card through Stripe at the time of booking. Weekly plans are charged as shown at booking and require a card on file. We may change prices with 30 days' notice. A plan that is already running keeps its price until it ends or is paused. Bookings must be made at least 12 hours in advance.
5. Changes and Cancellations
You can change or cancel a session free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. A single session canceled in time is kept as a credit that you can use to book again once within 60 days. It is not refunded. A session canceled less than 24 hours before the start, or not attended, counts as used.
The first time your child misses a session, we forgive it and the session can be rebooked. After that, a missed session counts as used. Weekly plans can be paused in whole weeks. If a week is lost because of us, for example a tutor cancellation or an error on our side, we make it up at a time that suits you.
6. Refunds
Because a canceled session is kept for rebooking rather than refunded, we do not issue refunds at your request. We issue a refund when we are unable to deliver what you paid for. Refunds are returned to your card and usually arrive within 5 to 10 days.
7. Tutor Cancellations and Changes
A tutor will give at least 48 hours' notice of a cancellation except in an emergency. You keep the session to rebook, or we offer another tutor. We may need to change your child's tutor. If we do, we will tell you by email and your sessions keep their day and time.
8. Attendance
If your child has not joined the room 15 minutes after the start time, the tutor may record the session as a no-show. A session that starts late is not extended unless the tutor chooses to extend it.
9. Recording
Sessions are not recorded unless you turn recording on for your child. The terms of recording are shown on the recording switch and in the Privacy Policy. You may not record sessions yourself, and you may not share a recording we provide outside your household.
10. Your Responsibilities
You agree to give accurate information about your child, to keep your sign-in email account secure (we sign you in by a link sent to that address), to tell us anything a tutor needs to know for your child's safety, and to treat tutors with respect. We may end a session or close an account in response to abuse, threats or a risk to a child's safety.
11. Limitation of Liability
We will provide the sessions you book with a qualified tutor and handle your information as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not guarantee any learning outcome, grade or school result. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Termination
You can stop booking at any time. A weekly plan is canceled from its Manage page and ends after the sessions already paid for. We may close an account with 30 days' notice, or immediately for a breach of these terms. If we close an account, we refund any sessions that were paid for and not delivered.
13. Changes to These Terms
We will email you before a material change to these terms takes effect.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States.
