Who is this grocery math pack for?

What is the next-dollar-up strategy?

Next dollar up is a simple way to pay without counting exact change. The student looks only at the dollars number in a price and hands over one more dollar than they see. If something costs $3.29, the dollars say 3, so they give 4 one-dollar bills and get coins back as change. It lets a teen pay independently before they have mastered counting coins.

How do the three levels work?

Level 1 has the student read each price, circle the dollars, underline the cents, and pick the cheaper item. Level 2 teaches next-dollar-up and works the twenty practice cards. Level 3 uses the flyer to add a short list, decide if a budget is enough, and pay with next-dollar-up, then plan the open budget challenge. One purchase stretches across your whole caseload.

Are the prices and answer keys correct?

Yes. Every price is stored as whole cents and every answer key, the next-dollar-up amounts, the trip totals, and the enough-or-not answers, is computed by the pack, never hand-typed, and checked by an automated test.
