What is in this pack, and who is it for?

It has two step-by-step visual routines, the trick-or-treat script and the candy check, each a full-page visual with a photo per step, a self-check, sequencing cards, a comprehension check and vocabulary, plus eight street and night safety cards, four costume comfort self-advocacy phrases, a data sheet and three IEP goals. It is written for teens and young adults from about 13 to 21 in special education, life skills and transition programs, and for families getting ready for the night at home.

How does it teach the routine?

In three levels that fade the support. The student starts by matching the step cards to the routine mat and following the full-page visual, then moves to cutting and ordering the step cards, then to running the routine at the classroom door and on a walk while you take data. Practice the scripts before Halloween so a real doorway makes them stick.

Is Halloween required for a student to do this?

No. Halloween is optional in every sense, and the pack says so. A student can trick-or-treat in regular clothes with a small accessory, watch from a distance, or skip the night entirely. The costume comfort self-advocacy phrases give a student the words to change or skip any part that does not work for them, because comfort matters more than the costume.

How does it handle street and night safety?

Eight safety cards cover the real risks of being out after dark: staying with the group, crossing at corners and crosswalks, looking both ways, carrying a light or wearing something reflective, sticking to sidewalks, only visiting lit houses, staying outside a stranger's door, and checking in if separated. An adult supervises the night, and the cards teach the student the rules to follow.
