When to use the all done and more cards
Use all done at the end of a meal, a game, a bath or anything your child wants to stop, so leaving does not have to come out as a meltdown. Use more at snack and play, where the next bite or the next push on the swing is the reward. Many families teach more first, because asking gets something good right away.
How to teach the all done and more cards
- Start with more during an activity your child loves. Pause it, and hand the more card back the moment they reach to continue.
- Restart the activity as soon as the card lands in your hand, and say "more" as you do.
- Teach all done when your child is already finished: as they push the plate away, guide them to hand you the all done card, then clear the plate.
- Keep both cards in the same spot every time, and honor every exchange, even a clumsy one, so your child learns the cards work.
Printable picture cards, sentence strips, and a communication book to start and grow picture exchange.

Frequently asked questions
- Should I teach all done or more first?
- Most families start with more, because it gets your child something they want straight away. All done follows once the exchange is familiar, usually at the end of meals.
- Why do the all done and more cards look alike?
- Both pictures are the hand signs: open palms turned out for all done, cupped hands for more. If your child mixes them up, keep them apart on the board or print one on colored card.
- Are these cards free to print?
- Yes. The PDF is free with no email needed, and you can change the picture, size or paper before you print.
- Can I use a photo instead of the drawing?
- Yes. Open the cards in the free maker and swap in a photo, such as an empty plate for all done.
