When to use the drink card
Use it at meals, after play, on hot days and anywhere your child gets thirsty. Like eat, drink is easy to teach because the reward arrives the moment the card is handed over.
How to teach the drink card
- Keep your child's cup in sight but out of reach.
- When your child reaches for the cup, a second adult guides their hand to give you the drink card.
- Hand over the drink at once and say "drink".
- Fade the guidance over several sessions, then move the card a little farther away so your child walks to bring it.
